Reclaiming me has been a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and renewed self-esteem.

Driving to work, the same route, the same radio station on, the weather was grey, and I was rushing as usual. I suddenly thought there had to be more to life than this. I felt a deep need to break free from the restraints that seemed to hold me back. It wasn't just the physical demands of life, but the constant pull of responsibilities and others' expectations. I longed for space, time, and freedom to rediscover who I truly was beyond my caring duties and work commitments. I had dedicated so much of my life to supporting others that I had almost forgotten what brought me joy and fulfilment.

I craved time for myself, time to explore new opportunities, and time to reconnect with the simple pleasures that make life meaningful. I wanted fresh experiences and the chance to step outside of familiar routines. I wanted to meet new people and build connections.

Most importantly, I wanted to live my life with confidence. Taking this step was about finding myself again. It was about creating a life where I could grow, thrive, and experience happiness. For the first time in a long time, I was determined to put myself first and become the person I knew I could be. Here's the thing: I know I'm not the only woman who has felt this way. So many women spend years putting themselves last. We become carers, partners, daughters, and the person everyone turns to, and along the way we lose touch with the woman underneath. We start asking ourselves, “Where did I go? When did I stop doing things for me?” This was the gap I felt in my life. I needed to come back to myself, and that’s where movement became part of my journey with a sisterhood of women, which reconnected me with my body. Movement and dance has helped me reconnect with my body, embrace my glamour, strengthen my self-esteem, and step into my empowerment, saying, "I'm putting myself first, and this is my time."
